      • Damage avoidance technologies for seismic

      Qualifications:

      BE(Mech) Hons, CPEng

Andy has over 15yrs experience working in engineering design and fabrication. He has worked with CGW since the Stockton CHPP project of 2007, coming from a background of project work in marine and offshore projects. Initially specialising in industrial steel design and detailing, he has widened his skillset to include engineered timber and seismic design of low to mid-rise buildings.

He is knowledgeable in displacement based design of structures and the use of hybrid energy dissipation systems such as post tensioned rocking walls. He has a strong interest in pushing structures beyond current code required design, to systems incorporating damage avoidance or other best practice detailing that achieves high performance without necessarily costing a great deal more to construct.

While not a geotech engineer, Andy has a strong interest in the field and where geotech overlaps with building structural design.

Andy loves his sailing, fishing and freediving, all sports that he manages to share with his two young sons.
